Writing

This is a combination of writing and projects I did for writing classes at the University of Denver and my own independent projects. Initially, I wasn't super excited to take writing courses because I hated writing essays in high school. However, after my first year of taking writing classes, I found a spark and decided to change my degree path so I could take more writing classes.

Theories of writing

This class was the first writing class I took at DU. We learned the basics of college essay writing and did some amazing projects. I have included my final project from this class because I had a lot of fun making it and I'm very proud of it.

Creative Writing

I took travel writing and Poetry writing as electives, and they were really fun classes. In the travel writing class, I wrote a feature article about my mom, who stayed home to raise me and my four older brothers. I also wrote poetry to accompany the article to highlight my own perspective.

The last writing class I took at the University of Denver was a Creative Writing poetry class. Just before taking this class, I had a seizure. That event was the inspiration for a lot of the work I did in this class. To keep with the theme of family, I also included two poems about my maternal grandfather, who encouraged all his grandchildren to have a passion for literature, poetry, and culture.
